Just a quick thanks before they disconnect my computer. We've bought a house in Rio Rico with an amazing solar heated pool and views to die for in the Pueblo home community in Rio Rico just off the exit. These are all Santa Fe style homes and very colorful ones at that. We have a courtyard, 12 foot ceilings and upgrades are great! I'm very happy. I've been reading this forum for years now and have gotten some great help on various issues when we have visited. Sierra and others - thanks again. I'll be connected again in November when we close on the house. Cheers!

Glad that you were able to escape the DC/MD/VA ninth circle of hell. Boy, it is so nice to be so far from there!

Happiness is wished for you!
My daughter lives in Tucson with her significant other. We'll be visiting them this winter. I'm wondering if it might make sense for us to be closer to her at some point. We love living in Oregon and have family here but it ain't so cheap. As retirees (yeah, I know, the dreaded demographic) the appeal of a lower cost of living has our interest piqued.

I never heard of Rio Rico before but saw that it's about an hour or two from Tucson. Are there any towns as nice as that but a little closer?

Welcome to Arizona, Mary... and all of our natural wonders... as well as all of our issues and situations which are specific to this particular state...

Not to mention our occasional craziness! Enjoy!

Thanks especially to Zony Pony and Sierra whom I've talked with a few times. ExNY (Yawk) tehee... I'm also from New Yawk... originally. Rio Rico is only an hour from Tucson. Tubac is 45 min and is more pricey. Vail or Green Valley are closer. Right now though the prices are amazing and Oro Valley and Marana - north of Tucson are also great places. I prefer where we are going because it's closer to Mexico and much more laid back. We've even found places where they have designated smoking areas outside. We also found an amazing house with a casita and pool and views for a crazy price...so we're really pleased. A new shopping area is going in soon which will be great for the area. It's cooler than Tucson as well so that's why Rio Rico works for us.

Glad we've been of help.

If one is not dependent on employment, I think Rio Rico is great, too. Sounds like you got a cool place as well. Enjoy!

You probably have explored Nogales (Mexico) already, but just in case you need some recommendations - go to El Oasis!

Congrats and Welcome, Mary . . .

Relocating from the Washington Area to Rio Rico will definitely require some time to adjust, however, you're gonna look back and ask yourself why you waited so long.

Once again, CONGRATS, WELCOME and GOOD LUCK!

I am just reading your message from 2009 now, in 2012! We are also intersted in retiring to Rio Rico, and are wondering how it is, now. Do you still like it there? I have heard some negative stuff about dirty stores and vagrants in backyards, etc etc... so are a bit concerned. But since we currently are living in MAINE, it's kindof hard to find out the TRUTH!!! Any feedback will be much appreciated.............. 'Momads2'

The poster you refer to hasn't been back to the forum in about eight months, so you may not get an answer.
