Does anyone here know and can recommend a good & honest car mechanic?

I have been using Brake Masters for the last 20 years. Have never felt like I was ripped off, they have always fixed the problem in a timely manner. It's a locally owned chain. Once again it is Brake Masters
and NOT Brake Max! I have had the opposite experience at Brake Max.

I have been using locally owned and operated Buck's Automotive (First Avenue at Wetmore) for years. Definitely honest and knowledgeable plus you are able to speak directly with Buck if necessary.

Good Luck and holler if you need or want more information.

If you're centrally located, my vote goes for Ramsower's on Dodge just south of Ft. Lowell. I've been using them for years and anybody and everybody I've met who uses them, thinks they're terrific too.

Default Bump for current input on auto mechanics...

Will need to pass inspection and emissions next week on an '02 Highlander and will need a tune up and likely minor adjustments. Anyone have a rave fave mechanic for Toyotas? If not independent what is the opinion of local Toyota dealerships for service work?

Thanks in advance!

My Toyota wasn't bought new, so my only experience with a dealership was when they wanted to sell me a coolant overflow for $106 many years ago and try to convince me it's Toyota-specific to boot!

Lately I've been going to this place - Ventana Tire Brake & Auto - Google Maps - and I'm happy with them.

I live in the NW suburb and asked around for a recommendation from friends and work associates. Several people told me about Hardin Brothers Automotive (520-818-3200)‎, 16255 North Oracle, in Catalina (west side of Oracle, a bit north of Golder Ranch Commercial Center). It's a bit far from where I live, but since I was dealing with a weird problem and one that could have potentially been costly, I took that advice. And I'm very happy I did. They were thoroughly professional, ready for me when I arrived for my appointment, did their work in the time specified, and charged a very reasonable price. Time proved that they diagnosed the problem correctly and their repair did, indeed, do the job. I later asked them about a weird noise I heard, one of their employees took a ride with me to listen to it, gave me an explanation and told me it was nothing to worry about, and didn't charge me a dime. Their advice in that instance must also have been correct, since nothing bad has happened since then. I would definitely go back to see the Hardin Brothers.

On the way home, you can stop for dinner at Bubb's Grub, just a little bit south of Hardin Brothers on the east side of the road. Pretty good barbecue there.

Someone advised me once that it's good to have your oil changed right before an emissions inspection. I took that advice and have passed every one with flying colors.

Fave mechanic, honest, and in family business for decades - Highway Drive Repair Service. My family has been taking their cars there for years.
