Rose Canyon campground at Mt. Lemmon allows tents, dogs and fires, and so does Apache Lake.

You might be right about it being closed in the wintertime. As I recall, they close campgrounds at different elevations at different times of the year.

LOL...do they sell them here, I think I didn't bring them...I know the nites get cool, but we don't want to go to the top of a mountain...just a small campground or such. We did bring sleeping bags and have reasonably warm clothing I have been looking on the internet, but thought someone might know of a for-sure good spot

Molino Basin is open in the winter and is the first campground you come to as you drive up Mt Lemmon from Tucson....fees apply....it's a nice spot, though nearly surrounded on three sides by the highway!....

I think the higher campgrounds are closed now....

Saguaro Natl. Park does not have car campgrounds...

you could also try Gilbert Ray campground out near the Desert Museum, a county operation, I think....it may be a bit more RV-ish, though, if that's a concern.....

Patagonia Lake SP and Parker Canyon Lake. You will freeze to death at the latter though and Patagonia is only a little better. I'd suggest going right past Tucson to Chiricahua national monument - unforgettable.

Going camping this time of year is a very poor idea. It is way too cold. Wait until April or May.

LOL...It is 60's to 70's during the day, 30's to 40's at night...that is warmer than 90% of the summer days in Alaska we had! We camped in the fall in MN, so this is warmer than that also. We aren't going into the mountains as I didn't bring winter clothing And we will be going in April and May too... It feels chilly at night to me, but I don't think I've been here long enough yet to thing it's too cold We just want to enjoy what the Arizona and the weather is giving us here
