Seeing and reading all the posts about home values in Phoenix and more and more people "underwater" with their mortages go me thinking about the Tucson market. Has this been felt in Tuscon as it has been in Phoenix and what does it mean for the Tuscon home market now and in the future or is this just a Phoenix phenomenon?

I am asking as a possible move to Arizona might be in the future with both Phoenix and Tucson possible choices.

Thanks

Scott in WA

Tucson (not Tuscon) has also very much suffered from the drop in housing prices....as in Nevada, California, and Florida, Arizona was much affected....

however, I think Phoenix had much more speculation than Tucson in the boom years, so prices spiked more and, therefore, dropped more than Tucson....also, per capita, I think Phx had more of the urban fringe tract home development than Tucson, which is the type suffering most today....

there certainly are many "underwater" situations in Tucson, also....as in Phx, though, the more stable, older, non-fringe areas are much less affected by this....

I will be moving there soon also. Just got back from a week there. Was looking at areas to move & what I could get for my price range. The market is great for buyers. Lots of deals everywhere. If you want a great realtor, let me know. You really need to visit before moving.
