The construction has been completed for several months on I-10, they finished ahead of schedule. They do close one lane once in awhile to do some road service. The commute is easier now that everything is completed.

That's good to know That was like the never ending road project. I knew they were projected to finish early but we left in September and it was still in progress.

Yeah, that's done and it's sweet. The speed limit is 65 all the way through town. I believe it used to be 55... Not looking forward to the widening of Houghton, though. It's supposed to start this month in my stretch. It might; it might not...

Soo, wth happened with you guys? Please drop me a line when you have time, MM.

I know I am a little behind.. first off we used to live off of Jumping Cholla.. lots of military there! Loved the neighborhood and the dog park
Second of all we now live across from Cienega and are house isn't to far from the train tracks.. however it is far from where the train tracks and streets intersect. That being said, I have yet to hear the trains whistle.. I can sometimes hear the train (especially at night) but I have not heard the whistle..

We've lived in Vail for 2 years now or so... the real Vail (the area around the Del Lago neighborhood). Some folks refer to Vail when they are referring to the massive school district area... confusing.

Anyway, the commute for us is 45 mins to the airport, and I think it took my wife 45 mins to get to Bourne when she worked there (Alvernon and Broadway).

Critters are not an issue. I've seen 2 snakes and 2 Gilas in the 2 years here. Couple of wolf spiders... kinda cool. We had a baby rattlesnake curl up to hibernate in our garage but the fire dept quickly showed up to take him to a nicer place.

Lots of good deals to be had in houses near us. Great lots if you look off of Rex Molly... you get a view too. The neighborhoods just north of Rex Molly seem a bit cramped to me but better than Tucson proper.

Flooding has not been an issue one time the past two Monsoons. I haven't seen Old Spanish Trail flood out yet. Trains usually only slow me a few mins at most. My only real complaint is the lack of a grocery store in Vail proper. Walgreens is there for emergency stuff, but the nearest grocery store is at Rita Ranch and Mary Ann Cleveland has a ridiculously low speed limit so it takes forever to get over there and back. Also, there is always a decent wind blowing. Good for the summer, as I haven't gotten hot yet really, but bad for swimming pools... you are freezing unless its 100+ with that breeze sucking the water off of you. lol

Also wish there were better sidewalks/trails to jog on. Camino Loma Alta is a beating to ride/jog on, except the newest part where they straighted out the 90 degree turns with a new section, oh and of course the part on the south end with a jogging trail.

PM me if you have any questions.

Oh and you get a lot of fun critters too... you know rabbits, birds... bats at night, occasionally an owl or hawk. I told my wife it was like animal planet in our front yard once with the quail family bathing in our drip system and jackrabbits and hummingbirds all doing their thing... then a roadrunner etc...

At night sometimes you get coyotes yipping through the neighborhood wash between Rex Molly and the northern neighborhood (Rincon Trails II i think or Legend at Rincon). Kinda cool.

The wife and I decided on Vail because of the "quietness" away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Can't beat the price of houses now if you're a first time home buyer. Where are ya'll PCSing from?
