My Tucson friend dragged me to this restaurant which apparently has been frequented by many famous ppl including former Presidents Clinton & bush. Whil waiting to be seated (45 min), I couldn't help but notice how dirty this place was! It had dirty floors and air vents and very poorly lit. I asked my friend to take me somewhere else. What do native tusconsenses think of this place?

I rarely go to Mi Nidito. Lots and lots of other places I prefer.

What's a good place to go to here in tucson on my way back from california? Preferably one that is clean, good waitstaff and kickass margaritas.

I agree....my first attempted visit to Mi Nidito last week was a bust...it was a Saturday night and we ended up going across the street to I think its called "Guillermos". That was pretty good and alot less crowded and appeared from what I saw to be a cleaner just slightly more upscale place.

You can read many customers' reviews of this restaurant, or write your own short review if you care to, on Hotels and Vacation Reviews - TripAdvisor

Guillermos? Are you serious? The only thing that they have there are good hamburgers, so my father says.

You should really try Micha's or Rigo's just down the street.

Hi,

In Tucson for forty years and yes Mi Nidito has gone down hill since Clinton ate there. I like the La Parilla Suiza and La Fuente still being good traditional restaurants. Many of the old renown Traditional Restaurants were in the changing parts of town which have become victims of poverty. Locally we say stay north of Boadway for the most astheic experience.

Dennis.

I prefer dives for Mexican food...

Mi Nidito may be resting on its laurels, but I haven't eaten there since it was discovered by all the national food magazines and the Presidents....even the venerable El Charro has been all prettied-up since appearing in "best places in Tucson"-type articles....

Midway Molina, Rosa's, El Minuto are my favorites, though they certainly aren't undiscovered, either.....

Try Rosa's on Campbell/Fort Lowell Great food, nice atmosphere. Fine 'Ritas. My hubby prefers Guadalajara Grill. Excellent chicken rojas, tableside guac, and margarita's.
