My brother has been on dialysis for the past 8 years and is considering relocating to Oro Valley from Wisconsin. Is there anyone on this board who can share information with us (pros and cons) in terms of local dialysis centers, nephrologist recommendations, and quality of life in the desert for someone with compromised health? Thank you!

I can't recommend a dialysis center or comment much on quality of life with compromised health, other than say that the doctors I've found here are better than any other place I've lived (N & S California, Texas, Colorado).

I can, however, recommend a nephrologist. Dr. Joy Logan, AZ Kidney Disease and Hypertension Center, Campbell office: Arizona Kidney Disease & Hypertension Center (http://www.akdhc.net/providers/logan.html - broken link)

I saw Dr. Logan to rule out possible kidney disease. She spent at least forty-five minutes with me, going over everything, and asking a lot of questions. She is very friendly, warm, and genuine. Though it seems I do not have kidney disease, she is going to run some two-month follow up labs to make sure all the bases are covered. She went above and beyond to reassure me.
