Gone from the forum but not lost forever (Tucson: transplants, sale)

Greetings to all.



It has been too many weeks since I have posted. In that time we have searched long and hard for a house to buy and succeeded. We have closed on the sale and moved in. We have almost found everything too!

I will be glad to sing the praises of our real estate agent, but know I should not get to commercial here. But she worked very hard to help us find a new home and we a thankful to her.

In the interim of house shopping, we have joined the Tucson Museum of Art and been there several times to enjoy the exhibits. We have made the opportunity to attend several performances on the university campus and have enjoyed the last four performances of the symphony orchestra. We also have our tickets for the next season.

We have also been fortunate to become acquainted with many folks and are developing a good circle of friends, in addition to our longtime friends who have lived here for years.

We continue to find affirmation that Tucson is a good choice for us. I know all about the ‘honeymoon period’ of living in a new city, but we have always enjoyed every place we have lived around the world. Tucson has qualities that make it nicely unique. Hope others who are transplants and natives feel the same.

Will try to be a more active participant on the forum and hope to be able to help others who may be new or are considering Tucson for their new home town.

Congrats, Joskel. So what side of town did you end up buying in? I don't recall where you were looking.

Glad you like Tucson and are enjoying yourself....I lived there a long time before moving to PHX and do miss it sometimes.
Have you been hiking to Sabino Canyon or Gates Pass? They are awesome and close to town.

We found a nice home in the Rolling Hills section of town. It is almost like an oasis because it has been here long enough that there are mature trees everywhere. Of course the golf course views are nice too because of the open expanses. Do not play golf, but appreciate the view.

We have hiked several of the shorter trails and have plans to take the photo hike in the national park to the east of us. Since we are walkers of 2-5 miles twice a day, we will be exploring many a trail as time goes by. Of course just as in the spring and summer walking in the Primavera Forest on the east side of Guadalajara, one must start early to avoid the heat and be aware that one is in the territory of many critters and leave them alone.

We started on a couple of projects today. The neglected back yard was scraped and leveled and gravel spread today. Tomorrow begins the construction of a west side privacy fence. Then the budget needs a break before we start putting some plants.

Awesome. I really like the far east side of town too. If I were buying that's probably where I'd buy too. Such nice views over there.

You probably already know this, but there are a lot of nice trails at the end of Speedway.

I had no idea where this neighborhood was, but this morning happened to see such a sign East of Pantano Parkway, North of Golf Links. Is that it?
