So there I was, wasting time on another hot and sultry Sunday, sippin’ my Hurricane Jane on a rickety old dock that juts out like a disease ridden skeleton into the pond. Sure, I know I should tear it all down and build a new one, but I can’t bring myself to do it; it still reminds me of some little known place I used to go when I lived off the coast of somewhere beautiful. Looking back on those days, I still shake my head. Too much time and trouble seemed to have a way of finding me. It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly six years since I left that place.

Maybe it was the rum that got to me – or maybe it was the heat (I swear I saw Beelzebub dancing a *** in my front lawn) – but either way, it got me thinking about all the time that I’ve spent here.

It’s been awhile since my last post, but yeah, I’m still slinking around in the shadows. Since I’ve been here, I’ve spent my time working on at least one thing or another. They say that life is what happens to us as we’re out making plans, and I say that nothing could be closer to the truth. I’ve been like a wave tossed upon the sea, struggling to reach the shore – but still, my old man taught me how to swim. In this economy, it’s all too easy to find one close to drowning, but with faith, hope, and a little luck, we all make it to shore.

Still, as is my nature, I digress…

When I first moved to Tulsa, it was out of necessity, but since I have been here, I have found Tulsa to be a great wealth of extraordinary people and places. In one of my last posts – which I am ashamed to admit has been a little over a year ago – I was working with a small group of people to help find ways to improve Tulsa. We were able to accomplish a few minor things, but unfortunately nothing near as great as we desired. While the accomplishments were minor, the research that went into the project was not lost.

So, I’ll get on to the point of the post, which I assume is a bit more important than the meaningless ramblings of a former beach bum.

I’ve spent the last year trying to put everything that I’ve found out about Tulsa into a website. Someone on here mentioned putting together a weekly publication of what I’ve found, but the more I thought about it, I think that something like that wouldn’t be accessible to everyone. Further, I want the information to be free and open to everyone, even if they don’t live in Tulsa. My idea is to link together all of the places and things that Tulsa has to offer, and encourage everyone to get out and experience this great city as they’ve never experienced it before. I’ve tried to include as much detailed information as I could find, so that there’s no surprises anywhere. I don’t think I’m allowed to post links in this forum, but after the help I’ve received before, I figured I’d throw in a small update.

I’ll say this, since I’ve lived here – since 2003 that is – I STILL haven’t been able to visit every place that there is to go. Thing is, I try to go somewhere new every other weekend.

So, before I log off to go sleep away the effects of too much rum, I would like to pose a couple questions to those who bravely made it this far. – and for that, I humbly salute you!

First, the forums here: Everyone on here has been excellent in everything, and I’d buy a round for everyone here if I could. Coronas anyone? --- I don’t know the legalities of this, but I would like to include a prominent link to this forum on the website. Is that allowed?

Second, does anyone know what happened to the Richardson Asian Art Museum? I drove by there the other day and it looks like it’s been shut down. If it has, it’s unfortunate. That was one of my favorite places to go.

Finally, I’ll leave you with a small list of places to check out, if you haven’t already done so.

As always, it’s been real. My bed awaits, and so does those dreams of purple bikinis, azure seas, and golden sands that stretch for miles.

Good times, right?

Nevermind. I'll keep that to myself.

Gotta run, got boats to build…
