Per the US News & World Report TU is in the Top 100 universities in the U.S., the highest ranked university in Oklahoma. OU is just outside the Top 100 and Top 50 public universities.

Too bad that the average student in California and Oklahoma is too ill-educated to do well in to any college after high school.

When you factor in the total number of Universities and Colleges in the United States OK ranking is very impressive.

According to UNESCO[2] the US has the second largest number of higher education institutions in the world, with a total of 5,758, an average of more than 115 per state. The US also has the 2nd[3] highest number of higher education students in the world, a figure of 14,261,778,[4] or roughly 4.75% of the total population. The U.S. Department of Education shows 4,861 colleges and universities with 18,248,128 students in 2007.[5]

Not really. Only the top 30 or so "National Universities" and about 20 "Liberal-Arts Colleges" are even moderately selective. Everything below that, to paraphrase Ezra Pound, is just sheep herding. (And wasting tax dollars.)

College rankings are a joke! If you want realistic ratings each department needs ranked. For instance, OSU's ChemE program/department is amongst the best in the nation. Same with TU's Petroleum Engineering program. If I'm choosing a college I could give a rats ass if the law school is good if I'm not getting a law degree.
