I may be relocating to an area on the outskirts of Tulsa. Does anyone have any feedback on the Ramona Oklahoma area? Also, does snake repellent really work? My location would be very rual about 4 miles out of Ramona.

Sorry but I don't know Ramona at all. As for snake repellent, I haven't heard of any, but I'd sure like to find some if there is any around. Good luck, perhaps someone from the area will chime in with some advice.

There is a trade mark product I found surching the internet called= Snake Stop Snake Repellent. Supposed to be enviornmentally safe and is in pellet form and takes up to three months to disolve.

Rather it is in liquid form not pellets.
www.stopsnake.com Coming Soon! is where I found the info on the product but wondered if anyone has tried it and its results.

Ramona is a nice place. Nearest big town is Bartlesville, a VERY nice town. Ramona has a cafe, a bank, a service station and a motel, and that is about it as I recall.....I could be wrong. It is real close to a Wal-Mart distribution center, so Highway 75 handles hundreds of semi-trucks every day. The area around Ramona is rolling plains with good grass and lots of water. If I were moving there I would get some guinea chickens. They tend to keep snakes away. So do farm dogs. If you are moving 4 miles from Ramona, would that be east or west?

Wink Snakes?

I don't know about snake repellant but I use to live near Keystone Lake and asked the same question. I was told to get a cat. Seemed to work. Snakes come after rodents, cats get rid of rodents. I never saw one in 2.5 years on the property (but saw plenty of scorpions!). As far as Ramona, I have never done a mortgage there but I can ask a couple of my the realtors I work with about it. They seem to have the scoop on all the little Oklahoma towns.

West 4 miles? That will put you close to the Osage County Line and at the edge of the Osage Hills.....That is a gorgeous area. There are a lot of woods, some pretty valleys, nice rolling hills. Depending on the site, you may be able to garden, but there is a chance you will have to haul in dirt. You should be able to graze a few head of cattle. It is a relatively short commute to Bartlesville and Tulsa. Expect to drive, public transportation is non-existent. I think Ramona itself has less than 600 people in it, but that may have changed since Wal-mart came to the area.

If you do raise livestock, there is a good butcher in Ramona and another one in Barnsdall, that will be about 9 or so miles west of you. Avant is close as well. Primary industry in that area is going to be cattle and oil.....typical Oklahoma.

I have seen snake repellent for sale in feed stores, but I think cats are better. A few chickens and Guineas running around will help too, as they eat the baby snakes and also grasshoppers, crickets, and other pests.

Great feedback! Thanks so very much everyone.
Goodpasture, The Osage line is just over the hill. The land was my Grandmother's and I remember snakes and scorpions. My Mom got hit by a copper head so that is the reason for the snake questions. Guess I will invest in Guineas and maybe a cat too.
I have not been there for 20 years.
