First time I went to Cains for an event (when I was a kid I used to go there with my granddad and listen to Bob Will play) it was for mud wrestling. The next time it was for Joe Cocker. Been there several time since. About 8 years ago I took Annemieke there for a David Allen Coe concert. She wasn't familiar with him at all, had no clue about
Cains.....Was a little scared as we waited for it to open when one of the bouncers came out and told people to be sure to leave their knives in the car. Got in and all they had was beer in aluminium bottles.....she had never seen them before and wondered why they had them there. She was quiet for a bit after I explained that if you get hit with an aluminum bottle, it doesn't cut like a glass bottle does.......she then looked at me and said "seriously?" "Yep," I said, this is Cains and DAC is playing. Coming from Holland and Cape Cod, it was the first real honky tonk she had been in. DAC sucked but a couple of red dirt bands were pretty good as opening acts.

LOL I think she has tuffened up a little! I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of Annemieke even if all she had was an aluminium beer bottle...LOL
