Does anyone know of some good spots to rent a cabin within about 2 hours from Tulsa? Most of what I see (near grand lake) is just houses one next to another or resorts. Kind of trying to find something a little more secluded and preferably near water but that's not a necessity.

There is a place, I wish I could remember the name, that is off Lake Road 6 and next to the Grand Lake Sailing Club. There are four cabins with very basic furnishing: bed, shower, coffee pot, portable heater for cool nights, and maybe and old tv. What it has is a porch to enjoy your coffee while you watch the sun rise over the lake and listen to the birds. It is peaceful and about as isolated and earthy and you can find. I do not know if it is still open or not.

Blue Bluff Harbor and Honey Creek Resort are very small. Honey Creek is on S. Main Street (Hwy 69 South) near Honey Creek arm of Grand Lake and Stand Wattie Bridge - unless they renamed it. Blue Bluff Harbor is north of Grove a few miles. This is in a more historic area of Delaware County as Splitlog Church (on historic register) is not too far away. Long's Resort on Harbor Road is small and isolated. These resorts are iall online. They take reservations.

If you don't want a lot of noise and distrations, do not reserve during fishing season as Grand Lake is host to Bass Fishing tournaments, and busy with power boats from the end of May well into September.

If you sail you can bring your boat. If you have a power boat you can bring it too. There are several places you can find a power boat ramp including Honey Creek Park. This is a very nice and clean 33 acre full-service state park for RV and primitive camping.

War Eagle Resort is also on line. It is near Tahlequah. 2 m. East of 51/62 to Scenic Highway 10. Turn north 5-1/4 miles. It is less than 2 hours from Tulsa. This is on the Illinois river where no power boats or trolling motors are allowed. It is clean. This resort rents kayak, canoe and offers floats. If you want peace and quiet you will not find it near any body of water in the summer in OK. Cabin rentals by reservation.

OK in the fall is beautiful. This is when you find the white pelicans on Grand Lake. There are three attractions near Grove you might like. Lendonwood Garden is a Japanese garden with a tea house, ect., where you will find authentic Japanese plants. Harbor Village is a turn of century recreated village on the banks of Grand Lake. At the south end of the lake is the longest multiple arch dam in the world with 52 gates and free tours. If you are curious, all are worth your time. To enjoy Grand Lake take a leisurely 4-1/2 to 5 hour drive around it. .

Regardless, enjoy your two weeks. OK is okay!

Robber's Cave State Park near Wilburton should fit your bill but it would be at the end of the 2 hour limit from Tulsa. Check the TravelOK.com web site for a complete listing in the state.
