Thinking of moving to the poteau area from VA. Are there many tornadoes in that area? Is it also very humid, I lived in Stillwater 20 years ago, and remember it to be humid, but not sure of the weather on the East side of the state.

Thanks for clearing it up. The bottom line seems to be that's it's all relative to what your're used to. Tulsa seems to be middle of the road; not too humid nor too dry. I know for sure I don't want more humidity; it does breed mold and fungus which is bad news for me!

The tornado potential in Poteau is not as great as it is to the West, but there still is a potential for severe weather. As far as humid, Poteau will be more humid than Stillwater, because the Southeastern part of the state gets more rain than does the Central and Western parts of Oklahoma. The whole Eastern third of Oklahoma is generally much more green and hilly than parts to the West.
