Goodness, a little overly cautious aren't they? There's hardly even any precipitation out there.

We've become an over reactive and overtly cautious society IMO.

Nothing's going on and they are closing schools for crying out loud?!! Can they at least wait for the weather to show a reason?

There are Winter weather advisories down here as well and it's in the mid 40s and not expected to get below freezing! Why the panic; do people just love drama?

We are a nation of wimps, pure and simple.

Homeowners should have enough sense to properly prune their trees.

We trimmed all 3 of ours....all the way to the ground! Discovered those 30 year old oaks were diseased. They looked bad with the top half missing too.

Actually, it's been a steady fine mist here in Hughes County all day.

It was misting at 7 AM on my drive to work and coming down nice as all get out at 1 PM. I just took the trash out (8 PM) and the tree branches are already encapsulated in a thin layer of ice.

And if the precip gets heavier around midnight like they are forecasting, I think the closings of non-essential gatherings can only err on the side of caution.

The radar doesn't tell the whole story. By the time you wrote this post, my car at work had 1/8" of ice on it all the way around. A trip that normally takes me 10 minutes from work to home took me 45 minutes today. I think they knew what they were doing.

Since Dec 07 we react MUCH differently to ice storms. They were in the right. I have another 1/4" of ice on my car right now.

"Dangerous roads

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked 60 injury accidents statewide as of 6 p.m. Monday, and one man was killed on the Turner Turnpike near Chandler when his tractor-trailer rig slid off the road and he was thrown from the vehicle. There was another turnpike fatality, as well."

Yeah, and no matter how careful a driver you are, driving on ice is dangerous. Especially at an incline or over 10 mph.

I can hear the sleet hitting the windows outside. And strangely, it looks like SE Oklahoma will get the most precip on this storm.
