Hi everyone! I had a question for those of you living in Tulsa:

I'm a 23 year old young professional currently finishing my MBA in South Florida. I would LOVE to move to Tulsa when I graduate at the end of the summer for the lifestyle, cost of living, and quality of life there (and that my parents, who are currently in California, are thinking of moving there as well.). I was wondering if any of you knew of job opportunities I could search for? I'm having trouble finding job postings, but have heard the contradiction from people in the city that there are lots of jobs available? Just some background: I'll have an MBA, have worked in government/non profits/marketing/community and public relations, and have lots of international experience. What would you all recommend?

Any help is much appreciated! Thank you.

Hello,

Can't give you any specific job openings right now, but I do know that Tulsa employers on the whole will be very impressed with your educational background and with the fact that you are not from Tulsa. (It's the truth - in this town, familiarity breeds contempt as far as jobs go).

Major employers include ONEOK, Williams, the hospitals (St. John, St. Francis), HILTI and Bank of Oklahoma (they are a very solvent, locally-based bank with offices in several states.)

Also, check out Tulsa Young Professionals Association, Tulsas Young Professionals
Good resource for networking, etc.

Good luck!!!

Thank you! I appreciate your response, those are some great things to look towards. It was getting strange with everyone saying the job market was good for my background, and then finding little on online job boards and such!

I can say HILTI is an amazing company to work for. Their North American Headquarters is in Tulsa and they employ just under 1,000 people here.

QuikTrip is another great company to work for. Their Corporate Headquarters is here in Tulsa.

Another is FlightSafety International in Broken Arrow.

Honestly, I doubt if many people ever get hired through online job searches. Most of the time you have to know someone who knows someone or get face to face with decision makers if you know what I mean.
