Not sure about getting the retiring shuttle here, but it is obvious Tulsa still plays a big part in the aerospace community......even if you don't count Spartan........

Considering that in the original shuttles it was the Tulsa Division of Rockwell that built the cargo doors, we have a huge interest in landing this here and played a farily big part in the production of the space shuttle.

This would be a great coup if we "landed" a shuttle here. I really hope some of the big money folk step up and lay a good chunk of change down up front to show that we are serious about building that fantastic facility. Would definitely put the air and space museum up in the top tier of regional attractions and give Tulsa yet another great "thing to do" in our city. And we sorely need more lol. The Oklahoma Pop museum will be another great attraction.

My dream scenario for attractions in Tulsa would be....

River development, West side in Tulsa added to whats happening in Jenks
Villa Philbrook
A decked out, world class remodel of Gilcrease. (currently world class collection in pitifully lame museum)
Oklahoma Pop Museum
Art Deco Museum downtown ( TULSA DECOPOLIS )
Brady Arts-Greenwood/Ballpark-Blue Dome districts fleshed out into a real museum/arts/entertainment/ district.
Expanded Oklahoma Aquarium
Childrens Museum next to a Fun Park downtown
Air and Space Museum with shuttle and facility.

I could dream more of course, but these are what I consider real possibilities, IF we wanted it, we could quite readily have all of that.

Other things I could dream of but that arent currrently being considered...

Moving the asian art museum from its current poor location and putting it at 21st and Garnett in a beautiful themed building with asian gardens. Theme the lights and add some other items to help create a great asian district.

A Natural History Museum across the street from the Air And Space Museum, which would put it between that and the Zoo. Could be part of the Zoo as well. Plus the Zoo needs some more themed areas, would be nice if it were "Disneyfied" more like our great tropical jungle exhibit.

Is this project still in the running or was it put on the back burner?
