If you gotta veer off to high schools, I gotta get in that Stillwater High School will have a brand new 6,000 seat stadium ready in time for the first home game. Just like OSU, Stillwater High at long last finally has a football stadium it can be proud of.

I'm gonna go back to the Pokes since we are one month away from our first game. OSU isn't always as big a deal as OU. No duh. That's why Bedlam games like last year's and the one two years ago are so much fun. Everyone goes in thinking that OU is going to spank us but the Cowboys hold out hope and then every once in awhile we make them work for it. And every once in a great while, we beat them. That's when it's really exciting. So OU beats OSU again. Big deal. But it's a much bigger deal when we win. And it's really fun when we've got a good team that makes OU just a little nervous whether they admit it or not.

Here's to Oklahoma college football, FRIENDLY rivalries, fans that don't act like butts at the games and going into Bedlam with two undefeated teams!

Whooooooooo! I love football season! Parrish, will you marry me?

Here is the difference between great programs and good programs. Programs like OSU, Texas, etc., is their goal each year is to beat OU. Not to win a title or a NC, but just to beat OU. OU on the other hand has bigger fish to fry, always has their focus on titles, Big 12 and NC's is all they focus on. When you get caught up on rivalries like Texas and OSU do, you lose focus on bigger goals. That is why OU will always be the best! ESPN proved that fact too:

Counting down college football's most prestigious programs (1-5) - ESPN

I love this part.

Quote:
The 1956 Oklahoma team catapulted the Sooners past Notre Dame to the top of the Prestige Rankings, and it's been in the top spot ever since. OU's seven national titles have spanned four decades. The Sooners have finished in the final poll's top 5 an astounding 29 times. But the real fuel for OU's rise to the top of our rankings has been its conference dominance. The Sooners finished the regular season with at least a share of their conference's best record a stunning 39 times, seven more than any other program in the country.
and...

Quote:
Did you know? Oklahoma has been voted the No. 1 team in the country by the AP a record 97 times, including twice this past season to break a tie with Notre Dame.
The only problem is I wish the deer in the headlights look would go away and the Sooners would quit humiliating themselves on the national stage.. They are becoming an embarrassment by being unable to compete with MIGHTY programs like Boise State. I don't care how many games they win in a year. Once you get to the NC game you need to represent the great state of Oklahoma and not humiliate by losing to sub par teams and being totally obliterated by teams like USC.

OU, I hope you prove me wrong this year and make good in a bowl game for the first time in a decade.

Bob Stoops. Please get rid of that deer in the headlights look. It doesn't suit you. The state of Oklahoma deserves much better than someone with a headset that appears as if they have no clue how to manage a NC game. I no longer want to see the site I see below.

You really have it out for Stoops, don't you? I just don't understand why. I've lived with OU football since I can remember. I remember the wishbone days, I remember instituting the Power I, I remember the Troy Aikins debacle, Barry's demise and ultimate retirement, and what finally cultivated with Schenllenberger (ack). I can remember enough NTs to keep me going.

Do I get disappointed that we can't win the big one? Sure? Do I crucify Stoops? No. What's his current record? Isn't it better than any active coach in the nation? Well, is it?

Simmah down now!

You're right. We would hate to win a title or a NC.

I don't hate Bob Stoops. I think he is an excellent coach. I just think when it comes to post season we need to switch with someone else.

Anytime people start hating on Stoops I just think back to the John Blake, Schnellenberger, Gibbs, etc., era and cringe! Stoops is the MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let Stoops coach teams with the scholarship limits that Switzer had and see how many NC titles he'd have won by now.

BTW - OU is 20-9-3 all time against all SEC teams. Pretty darn good!
