So I called our insurance company today... Nationwide, to find out about our move. Apparently Nationwide isn't too popular there or something because my agent didn't know who to refer me to.

When I finally got in touch with someone else, they quoted me almost $60 MORE a month than I pay here -- in a city FIVE times the size of Tulsa (Atlanta)!!! I was shocked!! Then I went on the Progressive website and got a quote... which was even HIGHER

So who is your favorite insurance company? Anyone else see this increase when they moved there?? I'm in complete shock because I just knew it would be cheaper in a city so much smaller than where I live now!

If you have to switch insurance companies then sure it's going to be more.

And there are no Nationwide Insurance agents here.

I'll put it to you this way.

No tickets, no accidents, I have a two year old car, I'm in my early forties, single and I'm paying about 490 every 6 months for full coverage. That's with Allstate.

ANPAC! Best by far out there. I was with Farmers for over 20 years, they kept raising my rates with zero claims. I finally fired them and went with ANPAC, they were 1/2 the cost on home insurance and also auto's, and the really cool thing with American National is after you've been claim free with them for 3 years, they pay you 1/4 your premiums back to you each year. So in October I receive a check from them for over $1200, and you get that every year thereafter if you stay claim free.

Insurance for Auto, Home, Classic Cars, Rv's, Motorcycles, and more - ANPAC

Yep we moved here in March and pay $40 more per month compared to a city in MO. Compared to the city we lived in NE we pay $70 more a month. Ridiculus!!

Here is an example of what I pay with ANPAC on my truck. It's a 2005 Silverado Duramax crew cab 4 wheel drive. This truck cost well over $40K when I bought it new, plus keep in mind it's a 4x4 which is more expensive to insure. My 6 month policy with full coverage on this truck is $172. Granted I have a clean driving record, get discounts for having home owners with ANPAC, have a discount for defensive driving class, etc. Is that cheap enough for you??

I have, and am happy with, state farm. Can't beat BrianSGI's price though.

And yes, "Nationwide Insurance" is an oxymoron.

I ran across this post and am I ever glad I did. I have been with Farmers for over 20 years and I am completely fed up my rates also go up on home and auto ins. every single year. I call my agent and negotiate a lower rate with higher deductables etc. and low and behold the next year it goes up again. I have had zero claims as well. I tried shopping around and found the others to be the same or more. I will most surely look into American National that is one I didn't check. My advice to the original poster is stay away from Farmers they are way too high.

Oh my gosh, what a great rate. I drive a 2000 suv and for 6 mos I pay over 900.00 to Farmers. This is with homeowners discount etc. I (knock on wood) have never had a ticket, no accidents, nothing, nada, zilch.

We always purchase all our insurance (home and auto for TEENS ) from the same company and get discounts for multiple policies.
We found Liberty Mutual to be the best for us but as someone above said....shop around!!!
