What would be a good highway route to take to see an abundance of fall colors? We live in Owasso and would like to take a short, but scenic trip. Any ideas?

For an ez short trip take 412 east to just over the Verdigris River outside of Choteau, watch for a left turn for Alt 412, this is old highway 33 but now is called Scenic 412. This goes through Locust Grove, Rose, Leach to Kansas, Oklahoma. It is a nice curvey, forested road. At Kansas, head south on highway 10 towards Tahlequah. This will take you right along the Illinois River - pretty river, nice bluffs, lots of trees. At Tahlequah head back west on Highway 51 towards Wagoner. Watch your speed in Hulbert. This goes over Lake Fort Gibson at one point. Follow highway 51 back into Tulsa/Highway 169.

My husband and I took this trip. It was very nice. There was plenty of lush green trees and gorgeous wildflowers. We're going to go back to this drive in the fall when the leaves change colors. I think it will be even better then.
