I received my tax statement last week! Taxes have gone up again to the tune of $101 more than last year. Nothing motivates me more to move out of Tulsa County than a tax statement!

I hate to hear that, I will be afraid to open my tax bill when it comes.

My taxes here in Stephens County went up again (As they have every year since we bought this house eighteen years ago. Taxes always went up on the first house we bought, too.). This year they are up by $89--not as much as some years, but still up. Taxes probably went up all over the state; I don't know this for sure, though.

Pardon my naivete but, as far as I know there hasnt been a county tax rate increase, has there? And if not, upon what do they base the county taxes? Isnt it a property tax such that if your home value goes up then so does the amount of tax?
