I don't understand why this is on the SyFy channel. But I guess it is more appropriate than rassling. I wonder if they tried to get Richard Blais for this show first. I've never seen Marcel do molecular gastronomy in all his episodes on TC.

I still think he's a douchebag.

While I don't think it's the best of the Stargate series, I would rather have Stargate Universe renewed as opposed to filming show like Marcel's Quantum Kitchen!

I watched the episodes on demand yesterday, and enjoyed them. I like how they explain how the chemicals work, and how the effects are done. I do wish they didn't add in the short-time-frame element, to build drama, I suppose. That gets tiresome after a while. "Oh, no! Only two days to plan & test & prepare! Can they do it?" Ugh.

Marcel is definitely contentious, he doesn't like someone telling him how to do things, and that will affect his business - part of providing food for an event is that you do what the planner wants. I saw his 'do my own thing just to spite you' attitude, and thought, "Uh-oh, no one will want to work with him." You can be a diva once you've earned it, and while the diners in that episode (engagement party) absolutely loved him, he hasn't made enough of a name for himself to be demanding like that.

I think it's funny that they changed the intro to the show. The Marcel's rapper type of clips where taken out. It made him look like a goofball.

I detest Marcel and can hardly think of a TC contestant less deserving of their own tv show. Fabio or Carla would be fun and engaging to watch and I think their styles (Carla especially) would be far more suited to the at-home cook.

yup, either of them would do great in that type of setting. I haven't seen the show since the one time I caught it. I should check when it is on so I can compare and see if it is really any good/ worth watching now that it has had more than one showing

Marcel was my least favorite Top Chef contestant since the show has been on the air. I turn off TC veterans programs in which he's included, so I would certainly avoid him on SyFy.

I do everything I can to avoid vain, ill-mannered, unethical people in my daily life -- why would I watch one for "entertainment"? I feel the same way about Donald Trump and that jerk from Texas who flips houses on A&E. I'd probably feel the same way about the people on Jersey Shore or those Bravo Housewife shows, but I don't watch them. Sometimes you can tell a program is not for you merely by seeing the previews.

I watched, because I'm curious about molecular gastronomy and what's possible there, and also because any show can be edited to make someone look like an absolute horror. I wouldn't want cameras following me around, then showcasing only my worst moments!

That being said... on the last episode (motorcycle clothing release), he really was being a d-bag! He was stressed, and took that out on his staff. This used to be par for the course for a chef. I worked in many different types of establishments - higher end restaurants, country clubs, etc. - and usually, back then, the chef was high-strung, punitive, and demanding. It's only fairly recently that restaurant staff started demanding something different, and with more chefs being in the public eye, it's changed even more. I'm wondering about Marcel's training - if he trained under one of those critical, impatient chefs, he may think it's his turn to be that way now. That doesn't excuse it, but might explain it.

He does have a lot of maturing to do!
