This was a classy, clever, and light-hearted show with enough substance to require careful attention from viewers who value a storyline with more than average depth. Casual viewers would easily miss most of the delicate details, which are essential to fully understand and appreciate this show.
I'd forgotten about this one. It was quirky, and I loved it!
For me, this one is an oldie ... Journeyman. To me, this had elements of Quantum Leap but was interesting in the fact that decisions affected the present, like when he dropped a cellphone after saving a family from death from a van teetering off the edge of a cliff then returning to the present time to discover that modern technology had advanced years beyond and he had to go back and fix it, or when his son was born a girl after similar circumstances. Like Quantum Leap, it seemed involuntary, but at the very least he always returned home.
It was also a show that I actually liked Moon Bloodgood's acting. Her wooden disconnected acting actually fit that of a seasoned time traveler.
The show was cancelled because of less than blockbuster ratings and because of the writers' guild strike giving NBC a legal out to let the show's contract expire.
So, what shows would you like to see come back?
Agreed!! Journeyman (Love Kevin McKidd). Was very upset when it was cancelled and I joined in with some of the campaigns to keep it on the air.
Actually another show that was already mentioned was The Event.
I think the show started out terribly though. Too many flashbacks. Too many different paths which had to be converged.
And I think the director and writers should have thought about "what next" after that cliffhanger of an ending. Though, personally, I think they could clear that up with a movie and that's it.
I thought Freaks and Geeks was superb. It showed a lot of teenage angst without being sappy or stupid. It was not renewed for a second season. The cast and writing were top-notch. The network should've given it a shot at a second season, maybe in a different time slot. I have it on DVD and can't get enough of it.
Firefly
The Dollhouse - seriously, these guys have a hate on for Joss Whedon.
Freaks and Geeks was great, but I wonder if it would have gotten its cult status if it lasted longer
Ive heard great things about The Event, but will probably never watch it since it ended so abruptly. I tend to distrust new shows for exactly that reason.
