For most of the show he was cuter and funnier and more charming than seemed possible, at the start of this season. He and Melissa are kind of fun - and it was nice to see that side of them both, live.
But the comment you're referring to was the one time he wasn't nearly as funny, or as charming, as he was trying to be. And I think he realized it, too late. The "joke" fell totally flat - and that's not fun on live TV.
Do I think he meant it, or half-way meant it, or even sort of meant it? No. It was a stupid joke from a man who isn't used to being in the public eye, and for a minute he forgot where he was. He'll figure out not to say stupid things in public - or in front of the camera - soon!

I thought Jesus wench and Joe Go were very charming. And Joe Go was a good sport doing all the 'challenges' people requested. I think the ar queda comment was just a joke no one thought was funny.

I mentioned this in the Housewives thread below. I thought it was hilarious because of the way he said it. Al Carder is what it sounded like to me, although I know what the big dum dum meant.
ETA: I don't think Rich is a member of Al Carder or Al Queda. I think Joe was just trying to be funny.

I wonder what Rich thought of it. Even though it didn't seem funny to everyone else (including myself), maybe it's an inside joke between the two that should stayed "inside."

Him and Teresa both need a lesson with a speech therapist and/or anyone who articulates well.
