This show is intense. Saw two episodes so far. This one is bad. It was a Halloween themed episode. Three people with animal phobias. Bats, rats, and roaches. The two women were afraid of rats and roaches. The man was afraid of bats. This isn't a normal fear. This was changing your life to prevent ANY exposure to them. The man wouldn't go to the park and would not go outside at night. The rat woman would wake her mom to check the bathroom for rats before she would walk in. The roach woman would literally have a panic attack when she saw a roach in the house. The three people go to this facility for five days. First day they're shown videos of their animal fear for the counselor to gauge their fear levels. They go to their room and all the walls have photos of their animal fear. The next day they're taken to see their animal in a very controlled setting. Example, the roach lady was taken to a facility that had dead roaches pinned in a display case and she had to touch the case. The other two had to touch a case that contained a live version of their animal fear. When they get back to their room, it is filled with rubber and stuffed (as in toy stuffed animals) versions of their fear. The roach lady was so terrified she couldn't sleep in her room that had small rubber/plastic roaches. The next day they're getting a closer exposure and actually touch the real live animal they fear. They're then told they must take the animal back to their room. The bat, roaches, and rat were all in a glass case. The next day is more exposure. The rat lady was taken into a bathroom with many rats and she had to pick them up and put them in a case. The bat guy went to a building made to be a bat home and wait for the bats to come out at night. They flew around him but didn't land on him. He even handled a bat. The roach lady had to put her hand in a case that had thousands of roaches of different types and sizes and then she had to let one get on her hand. She did but she fainted. When she awoke, she wanted to continue on further and let the roach go all over her hand. The show does a follow up on them at their own home. The rat lady wanted to do missionary work in Africa (not going to happen with her fear of rats). The roach lady wanted to visit family in Puerto Rico. The bat man wanted to spend time with his family outdoors like a family bar-b-q or a picnic in a park. Some almost quit but they got through it.
Thx for the review, I saw some coming attractions but it seemed a little over the top and overly dramatic to me but I guess I really have to watch a couple before deciding, I'll prob. tape one or two (now that we have our electricity back on here in the northeast) and see how I like it - I like a lot on AP but just had my doubts about that , good to know.
