I haven't seen last nights yet but the 2 hour Sunday episode was good.
like others I hadn't seen the movie in years but about 6 months ago I started reading John Grisham books and I recently finished the firm (great book btw).
I hope the show gets good enough ratings to stay around a while.
I saw an interview with John Grisham a week ago or so and he told of how the movie came into being. It seems he had sent his script to his publisher and someone bootlegged copies around, which he said was extremely common back in the 90's. He gets a call from his agent telling him that he just sold the movie rights to his book and the book hadn't even been published yet!
Well the critics are out and doing everything they can to get it cancelled.
Ask good ole Maureen from the Huffington post.
Finally a good show but not if she has anything to do with it, guess she likes vampires, I don't.

I'm reading Grisham's new book "The Litigators" right now. Very good so far, seems it could make for a movie with a lot of good humor and drama. Just please don't allow Mathew McCoughahey in the studio.
Question, did you read the book or see the original movie? I tried watching the show and gave up after about 20 mins.
I'm just wondering if people who didn't read the book or see the movie will accept this show better?
I did both, read the book and saw the movie. As usual the book is far better than the movie, but since Tom Cruise at the time was at the top of his game he carried it very well.
Since I am one who does like book sequels, I have enjoyed seeing where they take this particular story years in the future. The main characters still have their distinct personalities and I actually think Josh Lucas fits the Mitch character far better than Cruise did.

I haven't read anything of his recently because I seemed to tire of legal thrillers.
However, TNT ran some made for TV movies based on books during Nov/Dec which included one from Scott Turow, another who writes books with lawyers as the main character. This one was called "Innocent"
I watched all the movies, but this one in particular seemed quite familiar and it wasn't until I checked on his website and found it to be a sequel to another of his books "Presumed Innocent". Then it clicked. I had read that book years ago and it was also made into a movie with Harrison Ford.
Both of those were excellent and this made for TV movie was well done, though not quite theater status as expected.
Seeing that movie, and now this show has made me decided to pick up a few of their books again. haha
I'm just starting to catch up on this, watched the first two episodes today. I like it!

I agree with hypocore. I read the book years ago and watched the movie a few times. That doesn't influence how I feel about the series. It's totally different since it's not a remake of either but a sequel. I prefer Josh Lucas over Tom Cruise anyday.
