Susan Pleshette died yesterday. For those of you too young to appreciate her she was a movie star who played the wife of Bob Newhart in the 70's situation comedy "The Bob Newhart Show".
In the 80s Newhart had another situation comedy. This one was just "Newhart" and it was the first to have a finale. It was suggested by Newhart's wife and written into the script. When they taped it the audience recognized the bedspread immediately and went into hysterics.
IMHO this is one of the funniest scenes in TV history. There has never been a finale since that can touch it.........especially Sienfelds.
If it gets deleted go to youtube and search "Newhart finale". ENJOY

Yes, I remember this episode... very creative ending to that series.
We will miss you Suzanne. She was great in The Bob newhart show - a perfect foil for Bob.

I loved Susan Pleshette. Always had a crush on her because she was so beautiful. And that smoky voice! OMIGOD!

Brilliant ending to this show, too.

I remember both shows well. As an impressionable young girl in the 70's it was great to see a confident, professional woman & wife presented on a TV show(The Bob Newhart Show).

I do remember the finale on "Newhart". I remember really laughing out loud when I realized who was in the scene. Yes, it was a brilliant ending & compares to none.

Suzanne Pleshette was a totally fabulous. It's sad that she died so young; I would have liked to see her 'come back' in other television roles. I never realized until recently that she was married to Tom Poston (handyman of the Newhart show based in VT).

Farewell, Suzanne, and thanks for all the great entertainment.
