I was thinking about this today. These long hiatuses have to be doing more harm than good. In the case of Quantico it was a week shy of 3 months. In that time I have a chance to see what else is out there. To me it makes no sense whatsoever to allow folks to find something else to watch.

For me I am a fan of the show so I'll wait for it but those fans who are waffling may just leave and not come back when in the past they may have stuck around.

The summer hiatus is a little different. No one else is really showing anything so folks are less likely to find another show opposite

So basically you want television series to resemble the quality of daytime soap operas. Yet, that model is pretty much done-for.

That's not it. There are loads of programs broadcast over the summer, now - pretty much as many new shows premiering each summer as there are new shows premiering in January. Just over the last couple of years I've started watching Dark Matter, Halt & Catch Fire, Humans, Killjoys, The Last Ship, Mr. Robot, Tyrant, Wayward Pines, etc. - which are all summer-only series. You could make the argument that they all have the decency to end when the regular season programs return, but that would call attention to weakness in the original premise: That ratings are down for Quantico because of the hiatus. I feel it is far more likely that ratings are down due to normal degradation of ratings overtime once the hook mystery of the pilot is substantially resolved, and the impact of large contingent of viewers (including myself) who watched the finale of Downton Abbey instead/first.

Beyond that, it was a pretty crappy episode, imho (though of course we couldn't know that beforehand). I really think that the substantive resolution of the original hook of the series has undercut the series a bit. Hopefully it can regain its lost footing.

No I definitely dont want it to follow soaps. I dont know what the answer is but I think if you are going to break for 3 months you risk losing those folks that could go either way.

BTW I'm not saying it wasnt a weak episode. I had trouble following it myself.

OH and when I said "no one is really showing anything" I left out part of that thought. I meant no one is showing anything that directly competes with fall shows. Folks arent going to abandon "Quantico" for example to watch "Last Ship" as they dont compete with each other.

Of course you risk losing those folks that could go either way if you spread 22 episodes evenly across 39 weeks. The "answer" may be that what they're doing is the very best of the available approaches.

Yes, there's always going to be a break. Even with two weeks off, some people would check to see what else is on.

This may have been answered on one of the initial pages, but I thought I'd ask. Why are the twins Nimah and Raina played by the same actress? It just seems kind of cheesy that it's all about twins, but they're not really twins.

It's cheaper to pay one salary rather than two?

I just watched the whole series for the first time this past weekend. Honestly didn't think I would like it because of old movies I watched of Priyanka Chopra years ago. Even though I always thought of her to be very beautiful and sexy, I thought she was a horrible actress. Her singing wasn't that much better either. She has come a long way! Her acting has improved a lot and I can take her more seriously now. I'm a new fan of hers now and look forward to watching the rest of the series. I like that the lead is a woman of color and her character is very smart (besides being drop dead gorgeous). My kind of woman.

I gotta say I struggled with the last episode. The storyline for the present seems to be getting really convoluted. The flashback of them actually at Quantico work for me but where we are with the bomber/terror plot seems to be getting confusing.
