I found Ally McBoss's character to be the weakest link of the show early on, but she has really grown on me. She has become the most consistently entertaining character on the show. Probably because the writers are giving her all the best lines.
There's that possibility I guess. But I mean it's kind of disappointing to me that Supergirl herself is in an alternate universe rather than our own. They did have pretty good chemistry. I agree about Silver Banshee. She looks too ghoulish for my taste.
That is what I love about the MCU concept. Is "our" universe the Flarrowverse, Batman V Superman, Gotham.... or actually ours with a National City, Gotham, Metropolis and Star City among others fit into the American continent somewhere?

I agree on Flockhart's character. I thought she was just a caricature of Meryl Streep's character from "The Devil Wears Prada" at first, but she's definitely grown and become a more well rounded character.

I had always thought both Metropolis and Gotham City were stand-ins for NYC, which I think is pretty obvious. (Is Metropolis like Manhattan and then Gotham City would be what, Brooklyn? Queens?. Or maybe Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn are Metropolis and Gotham City is Staten Island, Jersey City and some of northern NJ?) Batman v Superman mentions Gotham being across the water, which could be one of several rivers?
National City would be the equivalent of what? Los Angeles?
How about Starling City? (now Star City) is that Chicago? Detroit? or, is it more of a southern city like Dallas or Atlanta?
And, Central City would be what, Chicago? St. Louis? Denver?
OK - just googled it. Star City is San Francisco, but used to be Boston and also was briefly in Connecticut. National City could be San Diego. Central City is Cleveland.
