For the hate, it wasn't a bad show and was getting decent ratings...which means, of course, it was cancelled.

Hated it. In all fairness, I only watched for most of one episode.

I am a big fan of the movie and John Candy in general, so I couldn't help make comparisons to the movie.

I mentioned this in the cancellation thread but I got the feeling that ABC never liked the show. It kept getting pushed back and pushed back to the point ABC finally said "ok". They aired the season and washed their hands of it. From what I read the decision to not go forward with a second season was made in May so it was pretty much done before it got started. Any number of things could have caused that but the ratings were halfway decent for a summer show.
