like almost all long running sitcoms it went downhill in its last 3 years. The writing lacks the sharpness of the early episodes and the acting appears phoned in. The finale was just meh, as the show has been for a few years, and it didnt reveal much of anything you didn't already know about the characters. Young Sheldon had a much better season finale. But TBBT was still better at the end than most other sitcoms, it just has fallen somewhat from a great peak.
I have to agree with your post. I was very disappointed with the final 1 hour finale. Only about 5 minutes of it seemed worth watching and that was just Sheldon's speech. Otherwise I felt like the ending was a complete letdown from all the hype I had been hearing about the ending. It didn't hold my attention at all. I also agree that the show has been going down hill over the past several years. They probably shouldn't have kept renewing it. I'm not sure if it's the acting, the writing, or both, but it's definitely lacks the entertainment value that it once had (imo).

I think this was an excellent finale. So many shows try to show us where the characters are down the road, and what's happened to them. They often try to give us closure we don't really need.
This was emotional closure, and stayed within the framework of the series. Moving and touching, seeing them together, the family.
And we finally get to see the kids!
