King of Queens or Everybody Loves Raymond

Out of the two shows I would choose King of Queens, it has a natural flow with the three main characters, Doug, Carrie & Arthur, also, with the other cast members. I really like each character and think each one brings a lot to the show. I find myself laughing at many of the episodes I've seen so many times.

I use to watch Everybody Love Raymond but really got tired of the overbearing mother, didn't find that character funny. I just recently watched an episode to see if I would like it better and noticed there really isn't much chemistry with Raymond and his wife, just seems like they're saying their lines and just going through the motions. (Ugh) The father on the show is great !

Which show do you like?

For me, King of Queens has a light-hearted, positive energy to it. I generally feel happy and relaxed after watching it. Many of the episodes have really excellent writing. I think the whole cast of core characters are all very funny. Each one has their place and they enhance the show. I think its unusual for a sitcom to have so many supporting roles that are so good (Kelly and Deacon, Danny, Spence). One of my all-time favorite episodes is G'night Stalker.

On the other hand, Everybody Loves Raymond leaves me with a negative/down feeling. There are some funny moments, but the overall vibe just doesn't make me want to watch it.

I didn't like either one, as the lead male character was written as a "bumbling idiot" in both series....

Great posts everyone !

For the King of Queen fans, which episodes are your favorites?

I really like: Inn Escapable, Pole Lox, the episode where Doug & Carrie go on the cruise with Deacon & Kelly.

There's so many funny episodes, even some that are just ok are still better than anything else on tv.

Love them both but I think I like Raymond more... maybe it's because I'm Italian-American and can relate to it? But all the characters and their relationships are hilarious and loveable, even if frustrating sometimes. In King of Queens, I find Carrie's dad obnoxious and not very funny (he pretty much plays the exact same character he does in Seinfeld), Holly is sad and depressing, and their friends Deacon and Kelly are boring.

So? The lead women in both are portrayed as bossy and mean most of the time. I'm not offended by that as a woman, I can laugh at it. All characters in comedies are massively flawed, it's what makes them funny. You're not supposed to take it that seriously.
