Why, oh why, do they have audio introductions on TV series DVDs? (show, episode)

I tend to mute those things when they come on because often the Star gives away something critical before I even get into the episode!
I was watching an episode of "The Baron" last night Peter Wyngarde was talking.....and talking.....and talking.....and still talking! I had it in mute but the clock timer wasn't part of it and I couldn't fast forward it. I just had to wait until the show started moving again.
I suppose somewhere, someone thought it was additional entertainment....but I find it to be torture.
I don’t mind that so much, but why do they have song lyrics in closed captioning? It’s not as if the music has anything to do with the story, except perhaps for mood, and deaf people can’t hear that.
I think on Get Smart, they were an option with Barbara Feldon. With the Wild Wild West and the Baron, one didn't have a choice.
I don't watch such dated offerings, so perhaps that's why I don't come across them.
