I have Roku and subscribe to YouTubeTV. I also watch a lot of YouTube on my Roku TV.

I got an email from Roku blaming YouTube, stating that they're trying to work out something with YouTube. That was a few weeks ago.

I got another email a few days later from Google/YouTubeTV blaming Roku.

IMO YouTubeTV is the culprit. They probably want a lot more money.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM:

Roku told us that if we already have the YouTubeTV and YouTube apps on our Roku TV, we're ok.

Now I hear that's not true.

Have been trying to get information because this is all going down next week.

I'm gonna cancel YouTubeTV if what Roku said is no longer true (I'm assuming that's what happened.)

Trying to decide if I should gamble on SlingTV. A lot cheaper. Bad visuals and interface but I guess I could deal if it really works OK.

Just bought the Roku a few months ago so changing TV's is out.

Buy a cheap Fire Stick? In fact, Prime Days are coming up. I bet they'll have a great sale on them.

We've got fire sticks me from the distant past (4 yrs) and my housemate probably has a more current one. I'll ask about it. I've decided to become half-Luddite. Fed up with ever-changing technology. Aggravating.

any other takers?

It is Youtube TV, the subscription service, that Roku has an issue with, not the free Youtube. I imagine that Google (Youtube) has the same negotiations with Amazon (FireTV) too. They all need one another to succeed.

I have a Vizio Smart Cast TV. I hope nothing happens. I also have a Roku device because HBO Max not on Smart Cast.

But Youtube is huge. They are the A side. Roku should give them whatever they want, or else what is the point.

Honestly Youtube should just be a streaming provider. They are as big with as much content as all the streamers and their providers combined.

I don't know if this pertains to you or not, but I just came across this article this morning:

Have you tried any of other live pay streaming services out there besides YouTubeTV? Most will have a free trial period of one week to see how it works for you. We currently subscribe to fubo.tv and it suits the husband the best of the bunch. In the past we subscribed to Hulu live TV and Philo and once we were given a couple of months of SlingTV. We never had problems with them but just found a better fit with fubo.tv. There are just so many services available now that it's easy to drop one and try another. It all depends on which channels you like to watch.
