Charlie from "Lost." Alco Colonel Black from "M.A.S.H." Those two came to mind first.

As I recall, it 'hit' Opie kind of hard. too.

I think the Bobby Simone death on NYPD Blue was very, very well done. Jimmy Smits was good... but Kim Delaney was absolutely believable.

That's definitely one of mine!

A few others off the top of my head ...

For the same reason ... Paul Hennessy (John Ritter) on 8 Simple Rules, Leo McGarry (John Spencer) on The West Wing, and Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) on Glee. It's absolutely gut wrenching when it's a character death due to the actor dying.

And this one is kind of niche ... Barbara Jean Jones on General Hospital. I'll never forget Felicia's reaction to finding out that her daughter received BJ's heart. And Tony placing his ear on Maxie's chest to hear his daughter's heart. No matter how many times I watch, I'm reduced to sobbing ugly cries.

I agree that Opie on Sons of Anarchy was one. It was such a well acted scene, and a tragic end to a character who looked to be getting back to a more normal life.
