I'll be honest: I have never really liked this show. Despite the great cast, the writing and directing always struck me as more style than substance. A great example of trying too hard.
Oscar-winning actress and director Jodie Foster will both star in and executive produce the fourth season of HBO’s “True Detective” anthology drama which is being dubbed “True Detective: Night Country”.
The story begins as the months-long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.
Did you see the first season with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson? It was excellent.
I did. I thought the first episode was excellent. The rest not so much. Too much style, not enough substance. The writing was just trying too hard. "Look how dark and tortured I am! Yet I soldier on...."
That sounds great, glad to hear the show is coming back.
I loved the first season! I absolutely hated the second season, couldn't even finish it...but then
again I don't like Collin Ferrell much.T
I did like the third season much better than the second though. The first was my favorite though.
I loved the first season and was disappointed that the second season was so different. But I watched it and ended up loving it just as much. The third season a little less so, but I was thrilled to hear there would be a fourth. Now that I see what it's about I'm even more thrilled.
Loved the first season. Second season was barely watchable, and I only stuck with it because S1 was so good, and it had built up goodwill with me. It turns out that S1 was directed by Cary Fukunaga (all 8 eps), who did a masterful job. But the the creator/writer, Nic Pizzolato, was unhappy Fukunaga got so much credit, and didn't bring him back for S2. At which point we learned it wasn't just the writing that made it so good, it was really the directing.
I didn't even watch S3, since S2 sucked.
I'll watch this new season, I think Jodie Foster is an amazing actor. Still worried about Pizzolato's involvement. He's shown he can't handle anyone getting more spotlight than him.
As long as its not woke I will watch. I also glad they not going with the child abuse angle the first and third season used to attract viewers. I am one of the minority that enjoyed the second season. They left on cliffhanger, and deserves to finish.
The world was introduced to Kelly Reilly in the second season, or at least US was. She was a star in UK for a bit.
The 3rd season didn't get the buzz that it deserved after a lot of people were so let down by season 2. It wasn't quite as good as season 1, but still really good. The way the ending tied the main character's dementia to the storyline was incredible writing.
Colin FARREL was in Miami Vice,I thought it is pretty good.
