“The Talk” is going silent. CBS is ending the long-running daytime chat show, which will get an abbreviated final season (its 15th) this fall, before signing off for good with what it’s calling a “celebratory sendoff” in December.

Rumors of the show’s end have been swirling for months, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning.

In a joint statement, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios prexy David Stapf said, “’The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format. Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe.

“It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task, and we express our sincere gratitude to our amazing hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood, our executive producer/showrunner Rob Crabbe and the hardworking producing team and crew. We also want to acknowledge our former show h
hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons. We truly appreciate the skill, creativity, and dedication everyone involved brought to the show every day. And of course, we thank the numerous guests who appeared, and the millions of viewers who tuned in daily. For the final season, we plan to celebrate the show and give it the proper sendoff it deserves when it concludes in December 2024.”

“The Talk” first premiered in 2010 (replacing “As the World Turns” on the Eye’s lineup) and was created by Sara Gilbert, who also hosted for the first nine seasons. It was originally pitched as an alternative to “The View” as a show discussing topics through the lens of motherhood, but later expanded its focus. Original hosts included Gilbert, Julie Chen Moonves, Sharon Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Marissa Janet Winokur.

Other hosts over the years have included Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Marie Osmond and Elaine Welteroth. Crabbe, former “The Late Late Show with James Corden” exec producer, took over showrunner duties on “The Talk” this season.

Over its lifespan, “The Talk” earned 11 Daytime Emmy Awards (including for outstanding talk show/ entertainment in 2016 and 2018, as well as for writing in 2015 and host in 2017) via 56 nominations. Other kudos include People’s Choice Award (2016) for daytime TV hosting team and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series (2016).

This show and "The View" have been indoctrinating housewives for nearly 2 decades. It's good to see one of them go but the damage is already done.

Indoctrinating them with what, exactly?

The Talk was a lot better than The View, yet The View continues to spew its toxic poison on a daily basis.

....and it only took CBS a few days to announce what we all assumed would happen: the replacement for The Talk will be a new soap opera tentatively titled The Gates.

It lost its way....not the same after Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne....

Cast the last couple seasons, very bad.....Jerry O'Connell...as Biden would say...C'mon man!

So....not surprised at all.

We all? It has been a while since there has been a new scripted show on network daytime TV. I would have assumed an even cheaper news or talk show with fewer and lower ranked celebrities than The Talk.

I think it was Sherri Shepard who didn't know the earth is round and used having children for the excuse for not knowing.

The View was not to bad back in the 2012 to 2014 I use to watch a few episodes until all the hate took over. But then it got to political, vicious and not because of Trump they were way worse than Trump. The only reason I suspect they stayed on so long was because people like to fight and have literally not a ounce of caring for anything other than themselves. Add that to how people would run to YouTube and complain about them, news articles about them in the net got them a lot of ratings. Yes the clicks give them ratings too just like with Greta Thurnberg. I think all the attention even when negative got them money. As far as the talk I never bothered with that one either.

As much as I don't like either show and Greta I am starting to see why climatic change is more important than I did before.
