It seems like everyone loves The Big Bang Theory, but I've tried watching and just cannot stand it.

Other popular shows that I've tried watching but have never liked:

Friends
Any Law & Order
Scrubs
The Simpsons
Family Guy
Grey's Anatomy
Blue Bloods
I don't care much for NCIS but I watch because my husband likes it; I love NCIS: LA though

Family Guy-caught a few pieces from the show and was instantly repelled-just don't like how it looks and sounds.
Sons of Anarchy-Heard great things about the writing & acting, but I really do not enjoy motorcycles and leather.

There are plenty of other shows that I haven't even tried watching at all, zero interest:
Lost, Dexter, CSI, NCIS, and Survivor/Dancing/Brother/Idol/Jersey/etc.

Many, many "popular" shows. "Mad Men" would be an example.......

I don't get Family Guy either. Or any of Seth McFarlane's output for that matter. His sense of humor has all the intelligence of a locker room wedgie.

I hate "Family Guy" with a passion. Other shows i tried getting into but just couldn't were "Sopranos" "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad," though i suspect I could watch "Breaking" now. I started in the third season and felt lost and ever tried to get caught up.

I can watch "How I Met" and "Big Bang Theory" but these are not shows I have to keep up on and typically will catch an episode here and there on cable.

HIMYM is one of those shows that started good but should have ended 3 seasons ago.

TBBT had a weak first season, then got really good, but is starting to fall into a rut.

I can agree and disagree with all of these responses (duh) but what I find interesting is that some of the shows that I initially didn't get into, I've gone back and watched (either through Hulu or Netflix etc.) and have really enjoyed. For example, I never thought I'd enjoy Nip/Tuck, but dammit if I didn't watch all the seasons last fall...every stinking one of them...I was hooked. Didn't mean to be, didn't want to be, but there I was, watching every dirty detail. Or Big Love. Or Boardwalk Empire...it's madness!!!

There are some networks that have their series and I'm not initially attracted to the show, but again, I'll go back and watch from the beginning, and I find I'm really pleased. There are others that I still can't get into...Oz is one of them. It makes me nervous even if I can respect the story and the acting. However, The Wire was awesome and I can't believe I wasn't into it when it was on! Or how did I miss Deadwood? I remember it being on but just wasn't into it until last summer when I mainlined all three seasons!!

We could go on and on about what show's we dislike, but for me, I know that it might not be the right time to watch until another time when I'm ready for it. Does that even make sense? In my head it does!!!

I agree with this, 100%. I've discovered a lot of shows, years after they've gone off the air, thanks to Netflix.

However, in this present time, here are the "popular" shows I've never been able to get into:

Once Upon a Time (I tried, I really did, but it just never clicked with me)
The Sopranos
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (I suppose this one is more of a cult favorite, but I know a lot of people that think it's the funniest show ever...it's okay, but nothing has ever made me feel compelled to keep watching...)
Lost
Every single "Real Housewives of..." -- actually, most reality shows in general, but I do have a fondness for Amazing Race and Masterchef.
