I get it that comedies should have annoying characters (like Janice on Friends or George Costanza or Eddie Haskell on Leave It To Beaver) so I'm only going to mention dramas.

I usually stop watching shows if I don't like the character but Brenda from The Closer was "shoot me now if that woman was my boss" material in the first 3 episodes of the show. Then, I stopped watching it. I watched the finale and still didn't like her.

Dr Melfi on The Sopranos. I'm convinced everyone in Hollywood has a shrink so sticking shrinks and psychologists in movies and TV shows seems normal to them. I don't dislike Dr Melfi as much as I dislike the trend in movies and TV shows. I'm just taking it out on her for being the iconic one.

Sweets on Bones. See Dr Melfi reason plus he made the show more juvenile. I stopped watching this show after he replaced Zach Addy as a title character on the most stupidly written episode to get rid of a character in TV history at the end of Season 3.

Sookie Stackhouse on True Blood - All of the scenes she's not in are the better ones. She's annoyingly precious. Come to think of it, I don't like Bill Compton, either.

Elizabeth Donnelly (Judith Light) on Law and Order SVU. Who stuck a pole up her butt? I liked the skeezy/sleazy judges better than her.

Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott) from American Horror Story - Okay, not a fan of the actor, either. He ruined Texas Rangers as the lead. But he also played a shrink which made him doubly annoying.

I know they aren't characters but also annoying: Bill Maher and Joy Behar who would be annoying even if they just did the weather forecast (because of their whining and loud voices) and Flo the Progressive Insurance Lady who is annoying AND creepy.

Zoe Barnes on House of Cards

Phoebe on Friends

I don't watch Modern Family any more, but I hated Manny. Too precocious.

After Frank Burns left, it went downhill. Now I do like Charles Winchester, but in my opinion, Frank Burns made that show

Dr. Mark Craig: one of my favorite characters ever.

My most annoying character was Michael Scott. I had to stop watching long before he left. The Office stopped being funny because people continued to take him seriously after he proved himself to be the world's biggest idiot week after week.
