These are just a couple of the many eateries that have opened up in Tyler just within the past 6-9 months.

Chuy's Mexican Food & BJ's Brewhouse are two others.

Now all we need is a La Madeline & a Papadeaux.

Chain restaurants are not to be celebrated. Give me independent, original establishments any day.

I agree with you, but just because mom & pop own a restaurant doesn't mean mom & pop can cook. A lot of small-medium towns have some downright bad independently owned places. (big city area, different story)

So I can understand why they're celebrating it, as sad as it is.

When I was there on memorial weekend we found plenty of mom and pop places to eat.

well perhaps it was an overreaction on my part...I was just surprised...Chipotle is fast food...well, it's better than most fast food joints out there but it's still fast food...so I was surprised that something like that would merit a thread...but hey I guess that's how they roll in Tyler, more power to y'all out there...

Meh, I don't always understand the common anti-chain mentality.

I'll eat at a chain restaurant when it's better than the local mom and pop option, and I'll eat at mom and pop's when it's better than the chain. I don't feel any more loyalty than that, and my dollar typically agrees with my taste buds. Chain restaurants typically don't become chains because they are terrible places to eat at. Am I supposed to quit eating at Fuzzy's and Mi Cocina just because they are literally everywhere now and are no longer as unique?

Anyway, with that said, good for Tyler. I could eat Chipotle every day.
