THIS IS FANTASTIC NEWS! Just another reason to love living in East Texas. Both small cities are pleasant and really enrich the region.

They said Tyler has consistently ranked within the top 20 since the ratings began.

Cool! I'm proud of both Longview and Tyler. I call both of them home since I live right between them and have lived in this area for 25 years. Love me some East Texas.

Most of the cities in Texas including Longview that are ranked higher because of being more of an oil based economy, Tyler also was said not to be ranked higher because of the thousands of manufacturing jobs lost in the last several years. But 9th is not bad, many cities would love that rating.

Well at least the old Kelly Springfield tire plant was sold to Scott's Fertilizer who will be distributing it here from Tyler for the regional market.

Yes, true, but just 20-40 employees. Maybe they will be able to use part of the land for more labor instensive use, hope so.

City just needs to turn loose some city sales tax money for job creation, instead of having to have the lowest city property tax rate in the state of any city over 15,000 pop. Maybe they will use some of the additional sales taxes coming in from beer and wine sales. But using sales taxes for job creation would have to be put up for a vote of the citizens for that to happen, about 20 years ago citizens voted to use the sales tax money for just a few things, job creation or enticement or incentives was not one of the uses allowed.
