The Save-A-Lot in Tyler has a street sign with an odd shape, very similar to the street sign for a True Value Hardware store in Virginia that was once a Safeway. Also, did the Drug Emporium in Tyler used to be an A&P supermarket? Or perhaps a K&B drugstore based in New Orleans?

Tough questions for even me, lol. Well, for sure the Drug Emporium was not an A & P, that whole strip center was built at the same time and no A & P.

If my mom were alive she would know what was before the Save-A-Lot if you are talking about the one on West Erwin? She shopped at the Save-A-Lot and it seems to me it was a food store before. I think Safeway was in Tyler somewhere some 40 plus years ago, not at all sure about that. Maybe someone else will know, that's older than I am, if there is such a person?

The Safeway I remember was on West Bow Steet on the NW corner of Bow and Palace. I think the Bingo place on Vine (behind Fire Station Auto) may have been a Safeway also. Not absolutely certain about either one.
