I'm a 55 year old educated professional male, divorced with grown children, who will be retiring in the next few years and I'm looking for a change of scenery. I have been researching Tyler for quite some time as a place to retire. I've lived in Texas for most of my life, (Corpus Christi for 30 years and San Antonio now for 20 years). I'm of Greek descent and have always enjoyed socializing with other Greeks in places I've lived.
Does anyone know if Tyler has any Greek population to speak of? I know there's a couple of Greek owned restaurants, but if anyone had to guess the number of Greek families or descendents of Greeks...what would your educated guess be???
Thanks in advance...

This question I haven't tried to "field" in the 10 plus years I've been on CD. I certainly do not have an guess let alone an "educated" guess on the numbers of Greek families or descendents in the Tyler area. The only way I MIGHT consider of finding out is asking one of the Greek Restaurants, if the owners are Greek, and try to judge if they were very convincing on any answer given to you. No help here, but maybe no one else will respond, so wanted to let you know we gave it a little consideration at least. Good luck.

If you don't mind answering, what made you consider Tyler? Have you visited before or ?

I'm sorry, I don't know of any significant Greek population in Tyler. That being said, Tyler is diverse and accepting of diversity. Like Mark Senior, I'd like to know what got your attention about Tyler. Hope you come here! Have you visited Tyler before?

A site that specializes in this type of info says about 100 of Greek descent in Tyler. 2,000 in Austin. 5k in Houston. Probably more in Dallas. Percentagewise Spring and Allen have more Greeks than average but it is only a couple hundred each.

I am not seeing any large Greek enclaves near Texas outside of big cities.
