I currently work in Dallas and we are contemplating moving to Tyler. I'm able to transfer to Tyler since it's within the UT Soutwestern umbrella as you might say.

We transferred to Tyler from DFW area last August. It was a great move for us. We actually live in Lindale area which is north of Tyler about 10 miles. Homes here are still very affordable. In our area you can still get a rather new (less than 2 yrs old) nice 1600 sq ft house in the neighborhood of 130,000.00. I've seen the pay scale come up since we've been here. There are several large companies here and added to that fact that there are several large calling centers. The medical arena is excellent. You will find some of the best medical care in the state of Texas.

Hi, I have a job opportunity in Tyler. I presently live about 3 hrs away in La. I am in the medical field and the job opportunity is at Mother Frances. I am concerned about finding a place kinda outta town but not real far with a yard for dogs etc. I have a 13 yo daughter and we need a good public school. A house maybe in the $160,00 range? I have heard really nice things about Tyler, but am scared stiff as I have never moved around before.

Lots of places in all that area of East Texas with nice little homes on small acreages....prices are going up so anyone who can grabl one now will be smart.
Country Homes, Ranches & Farm Land for Sale - United Country Rural Real Estate lists lots of rural properties in that part of the state....will give you an idea of the prices, etc. And don't limit our search to just Tyler addresses.....there are lots of little towns with their own post office addresses that are as close as driving across Tyler.

the areas that I would recommend are Lindale, Chandler, Whitehouse, Bullard, Flint, Gresham and south Tyler. These are the best areas with very good schools.
