Hello all,

I am originally from the East Texas area, Lufkin, Tx. I currently live in Dallas, Tx. I have lived in Tyler for two years in the past. So I know about the Tyler area, and my wife is from Whitehouse, Tx. I just accepted a teaching position at Palestine High School this coming fall so I need to move pretty soon. I do not won't to live in Palestine and I know Tyler is almost an hour away...I'm also thinking about living in Jacksonville, TX.

The problem I have right now is I don't have the best credit. I made a huge mistake five years ago and moved out on an apartment complex in Fort Worth, Tx, I moved out early well before my lease was over. It is now on my credit and I owe the apartment complex, I have put it on a payment plan..but many places will not accept anyone who owes another apartment complex. I have lived in Dallas for two years at the same apartment complex, never been late on rent, never missed one payment. But apartments don't look at that.

I basically have to deal with individuals renting out property...I dare not try to buy a house right now...lol...not until I get my credit together...I'm tired of being rejected and I don't want to pay a bunch of money to move into a rent house or duplex. I have a set amount I wan't to pay monthly but I am flexible. I just don't won't to get broke. I wan't to be in a quality neighborhood in a quality community and house or apartment because I am a quality person...I just need a second chance and I'm not getting it.....does anyone have any suggestions.....I've been on craigslist...numerous internet searches but I still haven't found what I'm looking for. I need to move in the next month and I have no clue where I will stay or where I can stay.

Why don't you get your wife or family member to co sign for you till you can get caught up?

Bad credit means bad credit anywhere you go...it follows you unfortunately.

"Can I live in a quality house or apartment in Tyler, Tx with bad credit??"

Short answer - No.

Virtually all apt. complexes, and most landlords, will run a credit check. And if you have bad credit, you won't get the house. Which is stupid IMO because if I had good credit, I would buy a house.

You can find decent rent houses with no credit check (I did). But you have to really look hard, and have some luck on your side.

Good luck!

Last I heard if you owe one member of the TAA (Texas Apartment Association) then no other member of the TAA will rent to you until it is paid.

Texas Apartment Association - Home Page - taa.org

Sometimes you can find some nice privately owned apartments that are owned by 1 or 2 persons instead of a company that will work with you.
