Are you trying to state that we should be I'n bed by 6pm and close our blinds and lock our doors. Maybe get that 12 gauge ready to go just In case. I feel mostly safe after 10 years here but I understand that the big problem lies within the drug/project area. The other problem is law enforcement or the "lack of". Too many cops have been busted for murder, kidnapping, extorsion, smuggling, misconduct, larceny and multiple other crimes. Busted is a loose term, convicted is even looser. We can't trust the police or judges down here. I don't know how they do it but they are great at letting all criminals go free. Long live criminal. I'm thinking of changing professions.
Np, I'm not "trying to state that we should be I'n bed by 6pm and close our blinds and lock our doors.". Try re-reading my post.
And it seems that you don't bother to keep up with local news much if you're so completely unaware of the ongoing upheavals in the VIPD. Your time might be better spent contributing to the solutions rather than playing Monday morning quarterback when you didn't even see the game.
The Virgin Islands, all of them, rely heavily on tourist trade for jobs and income. It is not in their best interest to publicize that there is a lot of crime there. I'm sure there is a lot of political pressure to downplay the crime rates. At the same time the Police Dept. probably would rather not emphasize how high the crime rate is, except of course when they are asking for more money. It is pure politics and self interest.

And from whence comes your assumption that the crime rates in the USVI aren't published? On the contrary, they're published on a regular basis in our daily newspapers, and there is no downplaying either by politicians or the VIPD.
