Hello all.

I am planning on spending the winter (oct-april) in either Hawaii or on St John. I really like both places and would like to leave within the next 2 weeks. I can't get St John out my head....it is winning. On have visited both locations many times as well.
The only thing making me pause is that I am a guy in my late 30's and single. In Hawaii there are lots of people like that, so I know I would be in good company. I know St John isn't totally honeymooners and families but I still wonder if I would feel out of place. I LOVE St John, the beaches, the hiking, the people, and just the incomparable feeling of uniqueness.
Thanks for any insight you may have!

I really can't be of much help as the choice is very subjective and I don't know much about Hawaii. Are you planning on working during this trip? Things are VERY slow right now on St Thomas and St John (which is perfectly normal for this time of year) but it all starts perking up soon. It seems from various message boards that several snowbirds are making plans to go to St John for season and I doubt you'll lack for company. Coming down before high season kicks in will put you at an advantage if you're planning on seeking work and give you a chance to settle in.

You might want to check out Virgin Islands Travel Information where there's an active moving center and relocation forum which will give you a ton of information. Good luck and sorry not to be of more help!
