Hello Islanders!

My husband just got a job offer for 3 months - possible long term in St. Croix. I am a beach girl, and we just moved to Memphis from Surfside in TX (sob sob) and I miss my pelicans!!!

I was wondering about a few things:

I won't be shipping my car(s) until we know further about longevity of job. We can ship our Harley, but no quotes on $ have come back as of yet. For transportation, his job will cover him getting to and from work, but is there a rental company where I would be able to rent a jeep now and again to putt around the island? Are rates comprable to the mainland?

I am hoping there are little island bars...very very laid back and relaxed, no frills...is this the case? Also, are there nicer bars to wear heels and be fancy now and again?

Is there sushi on the island?

Thanks for any advise anyone can give me.

Aly

There is a good book, "Settler's Handbook to the USVI" that is in at least the 15th or 16th edition -check it out and order if you wish. It has a LOT of varied info.

Also go to link and see the topic sub titles for much info at
U.S. Virgin Islands Vacations, Tourism and U.S. Virgin Islands Travel Reviews - TripAdvisor
forums are there that can assist you.
