Is there a way to walk the perimeter of St. John?

What can you tell me about it (all beach, some road, etc.)?

Thank you.

No.

If you go to the VINow website you'll find a ton of general information including maps of the island and descriptions of all the beaches and access information.

lake a look at the satalite good map too. I know people who have walked the around the island. I know people who have swam around the island. I know people who have kayaked around the island. nad my daughter paddled around the island!!! yes it can be doen. but it;s not easy and will take several days. Normally folks set a goal like I want to circumnatigate st john on paddle board. Then they mapp the route. break the tirp into sections which are manageable in day, half day. For example my daughter completed her circum-navigation in 57 hours over 6 weeks. There was another girl who did it in less than two days!!!! For walking there is no road. you'll need to climb, bushwack, wade. it won't be easy. all the shore line up to the vegitaion is public access. At times you'll need to head inland to avoid some sttep cliff and you;ll be on private property, so thats something to plan for. Like I said take a real good look athe google map. Think of it as your applicaion trail.

If adventure walking isn't your game, and your question was about walking as means of transport, then look for accomdations in Cruz bay. it's a small (i mean tiny tinny) town by is totally managable on foot.

Excellent answer. I clicked to "Rate this post positively," but got the message that I need to spread the Reputation around!

Anyway, I am up for adventure. Your response gives me a much better feeling for the island.

Thinking ahead is my forte when I know where to think! I also enjoy being surprised by the magic of the moment.

Kayaking is a great idea for feeling the island perimeter and getting a lay of the land. I will look into rentals.

Thank you.

It can get a little rough for kayaking at times but you can also rent a dinghy from Noah's Little Ark.

At your suggestion, I looked up dinghy rentals from Noah's Little Arks. Helpful info. Thank you again.
