Thanks for all the info about US Virgin Island. I have one question... you did not mention anything about public transportation. Is it better to buy a second hand car?

By the way, do you know how is the life in St thomas? and how is the University there? How is its reputation?
Buy a secondhand car unless you are going to live right on the safari route, or the dollar bus (which is now $2). Walking is uphill/downhill, heavy downpours occur without warning, and the safari buses are notoriously never on time. They only run a limited area, nothing close to covering the island.
Life in St. Thomas is more hectic, more urban. I'm sorry, I'm not sure about the University...if it follows public schools in the rest of the V.I., it wouldn't be the first choice. Remember that most kids on island who get the opportunity hit the mainland as fast as their legs will carry them - and a great number go back. It's culture shock both directions!

We have had some of those on and off showers today....liquid sunshine...right? I was soaked with that sunshine, but it really does feel great. We just watched an iguana feeding in a tree right off the balcony.
I'm taking a few minutes on line to find out more about Frenchman's Cove. We seem to be signing on the dotted line today. I was never interested in time shares. It feels like a scam to me, but............a couple of whatever weeks here a year..??? I'll suffer through it and worry about scam later. Actually, we've done the research. This set up will work well for us.
Now, I guess I'll head back to Paradise. We head to Tortola on Tuesday to sail for a couple of weeks.

Take lots of bug spray for Jost, the no-see-ums are HORRIBLE. Enjoy...remember, you could be in PA or DE freezing to death! I'm envious - the sun is bright here in Arkansas, but at 25 degrees it makes me wish for liquid sunshine from the islands. We'll look forward to more pix when you return from your little rest there.

I just did a weather check on the situation back home. It's 10 degrees and feels like -6 degrees.
I was on Jost last year about this time. We took a boat over for the day...hit Soggy Dollar and Foxy's. We also did some half-fast snorkling off of Jost.
This year we are headed to the Baths, etc. I guess I'll find out what it's like to try to sleep on a boat for two weeks. Hopefully, I'll be ok. Maybe it will take a couple of days...I dunno.
I was just reading some of your other posts about the bugs. We have lots of no-see-ums in Delaware. Flying teeth! Nasty little critters that can come through nearly any screen. Thanks for the spray reminder!!!

So here's a few more pix...I think all of these are St. Croix. The first two are at Divi Resort and Casino...the third is an old sugar plantation windmill - they are everywhere on the island. The next is the Government House in downtown Christiansted. Last on the top row is at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Christiansted, looking toward the harbor. And yes, that qualifies as a float! Remember, everything has to be shipped in, so supplies are limited. Decorated donkeys are not uncommon! You can see all the Danish influence on St. Croix...and the last is a friend in the salt spray, I believe down from Lobster Reef on the North Shore.
24/7 - So you are relocated to south Florida...maybe you can tell one of the posters before about UVI on STT. I'm sure your knowledge will be GREATLY appreciated by everyone!
